Following my recent review of the new Barry M Speedy polishes, they were kind enough to send me a gift of the new Sunset polishes launched this week in Boots.
For those of you who haven’t heard of the Sunset collection, here is the description from the label: Barry M Sunset uses natural daylight curing to create long lasting hi gloss nails. Now there’s no need for salons and UV lights.
This is not dissimilar to the CND vinylux range, but is much more accessible on your local high street with a good price too.
As with the Speedy polishes there are 4 new shades in this release. Ranging from a beautiful soft pink to a rich red wine colour. The colours are perfect for this season, the paler colours are brilliant for everyday wear, with the two darker shades the perfect addition for party season.
The formula is really good with all polishes gliding well on to the nail. Each polish was a little different from the other in terms of number of coats. The pink (Do You Pink I’m Sexy?)requires a white undercoat to make it pop, this is not unusual for lighter colours so is not an issue provided you have a white polish in your collection. Dark Side of the ‘Shroom was the absolute perfect polish, this bad boy went on in one coat! Plum on Baby was ready to go in 2 coats, while Vengeance is Wine took 3 coats to achieve opaqueness.
In order to obtain the long lasting finish these polishes offer you will need the Daylight Curing Top Coat. The top coat is very good with a glass like finish and quick drying but is only for use with the Sunset range.
Overall I would recommend these. The colours are gorgeous, the polish is easy to work with and it does offer the high shine finish, and the best part is they are affordable for almost any budget.
Do You Pink I’m Sexy – Such a sweet baby pink, the girly girls essential.
Dark Side of the ‘Shroom – I can see this being an autumn staple, perfect for work and play alike.
Plum on Baby – This is my new favourite purple polish, it is so deep and rich it was hard for me to capture.
Vengeance is Wine – This is a warm red with brown undertones, very classy.
